Efficient Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of 2-Pyridyl-4-thiazolidinones from 2-Chloro Nicotinaldehydes

Several new 2-pyridyl-4-thiazolidinones are synthesized in an efficient manner evading using any catalyst or base. Simple workup procedure, good yields, and mild reaction conditions are the salient features of this method. All the synthesized compounds are screened for antimicrobial activity against several organisms.

4-Chloro-2-[(4-chlorobenzylidene)amino]phenol

In the title Schiff base compound, C(13)H(9)Cl(2)NO, the mol-ecule displays an E conformation about the imine C=N double bond, with a dihedral angle of 8.09 (11)° between the two benzene rings. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by a single O-H⋯O hydrogen bond, giving one-dimensional chains which extend along (100).

4-Chloro-2-(2-chlorobenzoyl)phenol

In the title mol-ecule, C13H8Cl2O2, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 74.53 (9)°. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond leading to a S(6) ring is observed. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are connected into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯O and π-π [inter-centroid distance = 3.6254 (10) Å] inter-actions.

2-Bromo-4-chloro-6-(cyclohexyliminomethyl)phenol

The title compound, C(13)H(15)BrClNO, was prepared by the condensation of equimolar quanti-ties of 3-bromo-5-chloro-salicyl-aldehyde with cyclo-hexyl-amine in methanol. There is an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond in the mol-ecule. The cyclo-hexyl ring adopts a chair conformation.

Synthesis of some Novel Metal Complexes of 4-Hydroxy Benzopyran-2-Ones as Antimicrobial Agent

Complexes of 3-[{3-(3'-bromo phenyl)}-prop-2-enoyl]-4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2H-chromen-2-one with Cu(II), Ni(II), Fe(II), Co(II) and Mn(II) have been synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, IR spectra and conductivity measurements. These studies revealed that they are having octahedral geometry of the type [ML2 (H2O)2]. In-vitro antimicrobial activity of all synthesized compounds and...
